**“Statin is use in treatment of hypercholesterolemia"**

 * HMG-CoA is converted to mevalonate by HMG-CoA  reductase
  * Then mevalonate is further converted to cholesterol
  * statins are competitive inhibitors of **HMG CoA reductase**
  *  which will furthur inhibits cholesterol formation
  *  when statin is used as drug it inhibits HMG-CoA reductase so HMG-CoA cannot be converted to mevalonate,so mevalonate cannot further conert into cholesterol 
  * Thus statin is use in treatment of hypercholesterolemia
